Description
Automatic² Writing uses the latest technologies to serve the vision of the Surrealists, creating a continuous flow of poetry. The notion of automation is taken to a higher level here, as the work explores a version of automatic writing in which the process itself is automated, with the texts being generated using algorithms.
The poetic phrases displayed on this flip-chart are generated in real time and continuously using a Large Language Model (LLM) based on the instructions set out in the first Surrealist Manifesto (1924) for automatic writing: “Disregard your genius, your talents and those of everyone else”, 'Write quickly without a preconceived subject', or 'Put down any letter and bring back the arbitrary by imposing that letter as the initial for the word that will follow.', etc.
